Run avalidator.

A validator carries encrypted traffic through the Zentalk network and helps keep it honest. It runs on your own machine, and it is secured by a stake of 5,000 CHAIN.

01 · The role

What a validatoractually does.

Three jobs, all of them in the Zentalk network. None of them require permission from us.

Relays traffic

Messages travel over three hops before they arrive. Your validator is one of those hops, and it never sees what it carries.

Secures the network

The more independent operators carry traffic, the harder the network is to censor or shut down. That is the whole point of running one.

Puts skin in the game

The stake of 5,000 CHAIN is what makes the role accountable. It is locked while you operate, not spent.

02 · The path

Every messagecrosses three relays.

Your validator is one of them. Which position it holds decides what it can see — and no position sees enough to place a conversation.

First hop

Knows the sender, not the message

It sees which address handed the packet over, and nothing more. The content stays sealed and the destination is still wrapped in two further layers.

Middle hop

Knows neither side

It receives from a relay and passes to a relay. It cannot tell whether the station before it was the sender or just another hop, and that is what makes the chain hard to unravel.

Last hop

Knows the recipient, not the origin

It delivers the packet and sees where it goes. Where it came from was stripped away two stations earlier.

That is what makes the role worth doing carefully: you carry traffic you cannot read, for people you cannot identify. The stake of 5,000 CHAIN is the commitment that comes with it.

A validator is nota Zentanode.

These are separate roles that are easy to confuse. Pick the one that matches what you actually want to do.

04 · Common mix-ups

What the namedoes not mean.

“Validator” sets three expectations that do not hold here. Better to know them before you commit a stake than after.

It does not validate blocks

CHAIN is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, so there is no separate chain to produce blocks for. The name describes a position in the Zentalk network, not block production.

It is not mining

No hash race, no rig, no electricity bill to win back. What the role costs you is availability, not computation — a validator that answers is doing its job.

There is no box to buy

The hardware product is the Zentanode. A validator is software on a machine you already run; what you put up is the stake of 5,000 CHAIN, not a purchase.

What it takesto run one.

Two things you bring, one thing you accept.

5,000 CHAIN staked

Staking runs as an ERC-20 contract on Ethereum, verified on Etherscan. There is no separate chain and no approval step.

A machine that stays on

A validator is only useful while it is reachable. Any server you can keep online will do; the operator guide lists the specifics.

Uptime matters

Traffic routes around operators that drop out, so availability is what the role is measured on. Read the guide before you commit the stake.
